Google Officially launches Pixel 6 and the retail price is a steal
Google has officially unveiled its much awaited Pixel 6 line through a live stream on Tuesday. The hype has been huge for Google, thanks to a major camera upgrade and its use of in-house Tensor chips. What comes as a surprise, however, is the price it is offering the phones at: $599 for Pixel 6 and $899 for the Pixel 6 Pro. While the Pixel phone has been hovering around the mid range smartphone spectrum both in terms of price and hardware specs, it is a pleasant surprise that Google is still sticking to the mid range price while significantly posing itself as a premium phone brand. For example, comparable phone in terms of specs, Samsung Galaxy S21 costs $800 against the $599 for Pixel 6 and Galaxy Ultra S21 costs $1200 against the $900 for the Pixel 6 Pro!
One of the major USP for the Pixel phones has no doubt been its awe inspiring photography. While Google has relied on sole software processing to remain competitive in terms of photography, this is the first time the Pixel series has made a major overhaul of its camera sensor since Pixel 2. Pixel phones will boast a 50MP sensor with f/1.85 inch aperture and 1/1.3 inch sensor. Both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with 114- degrees FOV. Additionally, the Pro version will include a third 48MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. For video, the pixel phone will be capable of shooting 4K at 60 fps.
Sadly, owing to complications with Indian laws that do not approve the Project Soli, a chip that Google uses for Motion sense and Face Unlock features, the phones will not be immediately available in India, and subsequently Nepali market any time soon! However, let us hope that we can catch this steal of a bargain in the near future!
