Shree New Everest Distillery Limited to manufacture Soju locally!
Ever had a friend or family hand you a drink of Soju ? So, you like it but aren’t happy that the only choice you have is to buy expensive imported Soju? Well, worry not anymore! Shree New Everest Distillery Limited (SNED) has signed an agreement with People’s South Korea to have this drink manufactured in Nepal soon!
However, what is Soju? It is the world’s top selling drink by volume, which most of you have probably never heard of. Soju is primarily made from rice and has around 20-24 percent alcohol level. While the drink originated in Korea, it is very popular in Japan and China as well. It has a neutral taste like vodka, however, it does not come with the alcohol burn that vodka does, thanks to diluted alcohol level.
Like in Nepal, Soju is generally consumed with food called ‘Anju’. The closest translation Nepal has to offer for that would be ‘Sitan’. It goes without saying that ‘Sitan’ doesn’t go that well with beer and whisky, and the ‘local’ choice of alcohol we have is far from safe.
So, gear up with your choice of ‘Sitan’ as Soju will be coming to a store near you thanks to SNED!
