Nepal to allow porting mobile number to a different carrier!

Tired of your network provider, yet unable to switch to a different carrier because of the hassle that comes with switching numbers? Fret no more! Nepal Telecommunications Authority(NTA) in its recent release mentioned that one can switch to a different carrier keeping the same number, as it will be executing Mobile Number Portability(MNP) soon.

Customers, who are unsatisfied with their current carrier network will be able to switch to a different carrier as long as they maintain an active status for the mobile number for more than 10 days. 

This will effectively end the monopoly current carriers ( NTC, NCELL and Smart cell) have over their existing, especially long time, customers. It is believed that implementation of MNP in Nepal will lead to healthier competition between the network carriers and encourage them to upgrade their quality of service in addition to maintain competitive rates.
