Crystal Bottlers & Mount Everest Distillery’s license revoked!
The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Nepal revoked the license of Crystal Bottlers and Mount Everest Distillery for using fake excise duty stickers. The department has filed a lawsuit worth Rs 55.6 million against the aforementioned distilleries.
Both Crystal Bottlers and Mount Everest Distillery had been producing low-end alcohols. They were unlawfully found to be using counterfeit stickers containing serial numbers from used excise stickers. Consequently, the IRD has halted the production of these distilleries.
IRD’s representative stated that “We had confirmed that Crystal Bottlers and Mount Everest Distillery were counterfeiting excise stickers a while back. However, crooked efforts were being made to bail out these companies free of cost due to political engagement. The Inland Revenue Department is completely intolerant of fraudulent companies that attempt to avoid tax obligations. We will strictly punish such companies.”
