Dawa Yangzum Sherpa becomes the first Nepali ambassador of Rolex!
The esteemed Switzerland based watch designer and manufacturer “Rolex” announced Dawa Yangzum Sherpa as its new brand ambassador.
Sherpa is the first Nepali mountaineer and the youngest ambassador appointed by Rolex at the age of 29. As per the contract, Sherpa is to represent the brand for a period of three years. Furthermore, she will be entitled to a certain salary, watches and funding from Rolex for her mountaineering projects.
The brand “Rolex” has associated with the likes of Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Malcolm Campbell, Jackie Stewart, Michael Buble and several other celebrated names, as its ambassadors in the past. “Being part of a group of the most celebrated individuals in modern history, I will continue my passion for climbing with the support from Rolex,” said Sherpa who was also the brand ambassador for “The North Face” in 2019.
Coming from the rural Rolwaling valley in Dolakha, she has made noteworthy contributions towards the mountaineering sector. From climbing four peaks above 8,000m without oxygen in a single season to becoming the first IFMGA certified female guide in South Asia, Sherpa has become an inspirational figure in the global mountaineering community. Currently, she works as a professional guide in Nepal, the USA and South America.
Sherpa has been featured by The National Geographic, Rock and Ice, Outside, and other publications in Europe and Asia on numerous occasions.
