Worldlink acquires 40% shares of Khalti
Worldlink has acquired 40% of shares of digital wallet Khalti. The popular ISP of Nepal has made an investment in Khalti with a vision to provide the digital wallet service in rural areas of the country.
Dilip Agrawal, chairman at Wordlink, stated that “Wordlink has been expanding its internet service to the rural reaches of Nepal. Through our collaboration, we aspire to reach a major milestone in telecommunications sector of the country”. He further added that this move to invest in domestic startup is expected to inspire people to invest in aspiring startups of the country.
Khalti, since its establishment in 2017, has established itself as a major platform in the industry. Users can access a wide range of services such as phone recharge, internet bills, television bills, insurance premium, government fees, domestic air tickets, online shopping and several others through the Khalti platform. The app has more than 200,000 daily users. Currently, more than 90% of banks and financial institutions are associated with Khalti.
