5 of the Major Rebrands in Nepal
Rebranding is an important marketing strategy that encompasses a change in the corporate identity of an already established brand. Most companies opt to rebrand themselves to insinuate business changes such as mergers, acquisitions, demergers, repositioning, and digitalization. Even the likes of well-established brands like Facebook have rebranded themselves to signify business upgrades and reinforce the company’s mission & vision. In Nepal too, the business realm has seen several rebrands in recent years. Below are 5 of the major rebrands that happened in the past couple of years.
Daraz
Daraz’s rebranding came soon after its appointment of a native Managing Director, Anchal Kunwar, following the company’s localization strategy. The new logo of Daraz, introduced in January 2022, posed two major significance. The play button insinuated the company’s intent to incorporate a live streaming selling platform into its website and mobile app. The new brand color permeated with orange color resembled its parent company’s (Alibaba) brand color which signified Daraz’s intent to integrate with the global multinational tech giant.
Foodmandu
Foodmandu signaled its rebranding via posts embellished in yellow-colored designs on Facebook and Instagram. The company structured its peculiar posts into a collage on Instagram that revealed the new corporate identity of the brand in April 2022.
Hamro Bazar
Hamro Bazar opted to rebrand itself in 2021 for the first time since its inception. The company was acquired by Movers and Shakers (MNS) investment in early 2011 at a whooping price of 10 crores. Its rebranding initiative included total changes to its brand logo, webpage, and mobile app user interface. Most prominently, its website transformed from a very clustered interface to an immaculate one with a user-friendly interface.
Jeevee
Jeevee announced its intent to expand its business via rebranding in July 2022. The company that made wonders by offering e-pharmaceutical service during lockdown decided to change its logo after its intent to expand its business to healthcare, beauty, skincare, baby, household, and personal care segments.
Sajilo Sewa
Sajilo Marmat Sewa decided to change its corporate name to Sajilo Sewa along with a new logo in early 2022. Since its inception, the company had been providing repair and maintenance services like plumbing, electrical maintenance, and others to households and corporate clients. The decision to rebrand came after Sajilo Marmat Sewa expanded its operations to water tank cleaning, aluminum, UPVC, glass partition, and personalized beauty care services. The company also decided to remove Marmat from its brand identity to not limit its scope to just repair and maintenance.
