Dates Announced for Nepal EV International Expo
The Electric Vehicle Manufacturers and Importers Association of Nepal (EVMIAN) is organizing the Nepal EV Expo at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, from Bhadra 15 to Bhadra 17. The main objective of this event is to promote and encourage the use of electric vehicles in Nepal. The organizers have provided information about the expo, which will be held for three days and will see participation from over 100 renowned companies and more than 150 brands showcasing electric cars, scooters, motorcycles, bicycles, electric buses, rickshaws, charging stations, batteries, and other electric components. Notably, banks and insurance companies are also participating in the event, showing their confidence in the electric vehicle sector.
The expo aims to serve as a platform for various stakeholders, including business and financial leaders, automotive forum directors, dealers, retailers, importers, government officials, corporate houses, and potential investors, to foster collaboration and encourage investment in the electric vehicle industry. Furthermore, it will showcase recent developments and innovations in the field of electric vehicles and raise awareness about the positive impact of electric transportation on health and climate change. The growing popularity of electric vehicles and the significant increase in the consumption of electric energy over traditional fuels will also be highlighted at the event.
Recent statistics reveal that about 40% of the total automobile imports in Nepal are electric vehicles, including electric two-wheelers, microvans, and other electric vehicles. The market for electric vehicles is expected to expand further in the coming years without any doubt. Despite the ongoing economic downturn, there is a notable rise in the demand for electric vehicles, and they continue to sell well.
Shyam Sundar Sapkota, the President of EVMIAN and the coordinator of this expo, emphasized the organization's commitment to promote electric vehicles and its history of working towards the development, expansion, and policy implementation of electric vehicles for the past 11 years. This expo marks the first step, and it is anticipated that EVMIAN will continue its efforts to regularize and further enhance the event in the future.
