Inside the Transformation of Nepal's Creative Landscape with Jazz Productions
What does a Television Commercial mean to you? Is it a video featuring popular faces, dancing to jolly tunes whilst promoting businesses, companies or brands? Or is it a work of art where ad makers unleash the pinnacle of their innovative skills? Sadly, the Nepali market has fallen prey to the former. That being said, Nepal is certainly not lacking in creative minds who are forces of a much-needed change in the country. And who better than the team at Jazz Productions to epitomize this change? We, at BrandGuff, join the CEO at Jazz Productions as he guides us through his critical thoughts on Nepal's creative industry.
A Visionary's Journey
Amidst the bustling streets of Delhi, a young Nepali dreamer once decided to drop out of CA studies and embrace his true calling. Thus begins the journey of Aneel Neupane, who possesses an expert hand with the camera and is a believer in the power of moving pictures. He boasts a devout passion for transcending the boundaries of conventional storytelling in Nepal. After working in a production company in Mumbai for some time, he returned to Nepal in 2014, beginning his journey by founding Jazz Productions with a couple of friends.
Initially occupied with wedding photography, music videos, and short films, he would soon have a fateful meet-up with TVC production. The year 2017 marked a significant milestone as Aneel ventured into the world of TVCs, crafting Jazz Production's first masterpiece in collaboration with Thompson Nepal for Hero Achiever Bike. As of now, his team at Jazz Productions works hand-in-hand with Qi Animation Studio in the same office. Collectively, they are the brains behind the production of acclaimed TVCs like My Pay - Evolution of Money and others.
An Ideal Harmony: Bridging Brands, Agencies, and Production
Jazz Productions advocates a fundamental principle: the seamless collaboration between brands, agencies, and production teams. The entire trick, here in the world of TVC production, is to figure out the intended purpose of TVCs. Who are the intended viewers? What message should be conveyed? Is it about selling a product or raising awareness? The crux lies in the collaborative brainstorming sessions, where ideas flow freely among the brand representatives, creative minds from agencies and the skilled members at Jazz Productions. This collaborative spirit ensures that every TVC caters to various marketing objectives.
While several multinational brands in Nepal are known to adhere to this systematic approach of production planning, the domestic industry often witnesses a lack of it. One could blatantly feel that parties involved in executing TVC production are driven by high profit margins for themselves to keep, disregarding the value of innovation and creativity. As such, production teams are often left with a mere script, with little to no room to showcase creative prowess, when creating TVCs. However, Jazz Productions stands as a beacon of change, advocating for structured planning involving all stakeholders to enhance creativity and impact.
Transforming Brand Stories with Jazz Productions
In the ever-changing landscape of advertising, influencers have emerged as powerful voices that many brands have fixed their eyes upon. Despite a diversion of brand budgets towards influencer marketing, Jazz Productions perceives this trend not as a threat but as a challenge. Influencer marketing, lacking in storytelling depth, often falls short in building brand narratives. Jazz Productions recognizes the essence of storytelling. Every brand, they believe, has a story waiting to be told. Their mission is not merely to sell but to narrate these stories in compelling ways. By continuously challenging themselves to innovate, Jazz Productions strives to breathe life into every brand narrative, ensuring that the essence of the story resonates with the audience.
The Shifting Sands
Aneel feels that navigating the intricate ad industry of Nepal has been no small feat. With the sands of time shifting, the industry has transitioned from high-budget creative extravaganzas to budget-conscious compromises. We had once witnessed the likes of Nepali cigarettes, noodles and others, investing heavily to come up with the finest ads. Yet, here we stand now with tiny brand budgets where the choice lies between compromising on quality or overworking yourselves on minimal budgets.
Jazz Productions, however, is not willing to submit to the constraints of the market. Rather than compromising on quality, they compromise on budget, proving that creativity can flourish even within financial constraints. Their dedication to delivering high-quality work at a comparatively lower cost speaks volumes about their commitment to the craft, solidifying their path to becoming pioneers among Nepal's production companies.
Conclusion
Summing up, Jazz Productions stands not just as a production company but as a testament to creativity, collaboration, and unwavering dedication. Through the lens of Aneel Neupane's vision, they continue to reshape the TVC landscape, building narratives that captivate the soul of many.
